To clarify your own and your school’s use of the term ‘Assessment for Learning’.
What do you understand by ‘Assessment for Learning’ (AfL)? What do you mean by AfL? How is the term used in your school and by your colleagues? To what extent are there different interpretations? How closely do they match expert definitions of AfL that emphasise process, immediate use of information and learner agency?
Talk with colleagues about their understanding of AfL, and the way it is interpreted in the school. If your reflections and discussion suggest useage and misinterpretation may be problematic, what are you going to do about it?
