To reflect on your own cultures and communities of practice
Make yourself a grid similar to the one presented in the activity above. This time choose yourself as the focus. Again pick a 'typical' school day and adapt the first column to include a range of social interactions such as formal staff meetings, and informal staff-room interactions. Make comparisons between the professional cultures and the different ones you participate in at home, with family, friends or in your local community.
Undertake this activity as part of a group discussion with colleagues. Pay particular attention to the different ways you have described your shared school cultures. Discuss the differences.
