To reflect upon whether and/or how information from parents is used as part of the assessment process in your setting.
Take some additional time to review your assessment processes, this time with respect to your relationship with parents and how you share information. Consider:
the methods you use to communicate with parents.
do these methods work for all parents? Are some excluded?
whether the information gathered is useful.
how the information is used to supported the child both inside and outside of the setting.
Discuss your reflections with a colleague or peer. Consider whether there are alternative forms of communication you can try, particularly if you feel that communication with some parents is poor. Enter into discussions with families about ways they would like to share information about their child.
