To help develop constructive group work and discussion
Audio or video record a role-play of a group work activity in which students have been given secret roles such as ‘interrupt a lot’, ‘always agree’, ‘don’t listen to them’, ‘say nothing’, ‘say lots’ (perhaps you and they can think of others).
Discuss the role-play with the group reflecting on the (un)helpful skills.
Role-play a positive, effective group work activity identifying and reinforcing the positive skills and behaviours with the students.
