To consider the quality of activities in schemes of work.
Work with a colleague to compare the activities presented in a selection of schemes of work, either for your own class or for a specific age range. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the layouts used? How well do the suggested activities serve to develop the knowledge and skills identified in the learning objectives? Are the anticipated activities incremental in terms of student learning? Are outcomes clearly articulated? Is success in key learning points described? What is the balance of types of activity? Are activities likely to enthuse and motivate students?
Which activities would you replace, what with, and why?
