(a) Try to recall a situation (for example, conference, journal article or discussion) in which you use these terms with disciplinary colleagues. (b) Now consider how you may need to adapt this usage when talking with students. (c) How can you find a way to describe/define/use these terms with students which is accessible to them (as disciplinary outsiders) and yet still true to the integrity of the disciplinary knowledge?
