To reflect on the moral purposes of education
Take some time to imagine the trajectories through life of some of the children in your care. Consider the potential lifelong consequences of the day-to-day experiences that they have, of the paths they will follow, perhaps the schools they will attend. How much influence do you think their educational experiences, both now and the future, will have on the paths you imagine for them?
Thinking about those children what role do you think that the state and educational policy does or should play in shaping the lives of those children. Do you believe that their educational experiences will have a substantial impact? Could more be done to ensure equality for all children?
