This is the final and synoptic part of the book. In this section we review key concepts from earlier chapters and consider what is at the core of early years practice and professionalism. Chapter 16 provides a conceptual framework of enduring issues in teaching and learning in ECEC. The chapter constructs a framework describing dimensions of expert thinking. Case studies illustrate the range and breadth of deepening understanding and its application in early years education.
