Pedagogic repertoire

The idea of pedagogy is multifaceted and needs to be constantly refined through teachers’ reflections on their classroom experience from their own and their pupils’ perspectives. Texts which over the years have helped us to reflect on teachers’ interactions with pupils’ in the classroom –whether whole class, small group or individual teaching – include:

  • Alexander, R. (2020) A Dialogic Teaching Companion. Abingdon: Routledge.
  • Pollard, A. & Triggs, P. (2000) What Pupils Say: Changing Policy and Practice in Primary Education, London: Continuum.
  • Gillies, R. and Ashman, A. (Eds) (2004) Cooperative Learning: The Social and Intellectual Outcomes of Learning in Groups, London: RoutledgeFalmer.
  • Mortimer, E.F. & Scott, P.H. (2007) Meaning Making in Secondary Science Classrooms, Maidenhead: Open  University Press.
