Having an understanding of developmental miles stones is useful for planning, inclusion and, of course, identifying where there may be a need to seek further support or advice if you become concerned about a child’s progress. Remember though, as discussed in Chapter 2 of Reflective Teaching in Early Education, these are a guide and are not set in stone. All children are different, developing at different rates.
