To identify information about the children which it is important to know and record

Aim

To identify information about the children which it is important to know and record.

Evidence and reflection

Make notes, under the following headings, of:

1. What information do you think is important for you to know about children in your class?

2. Why is it important?

3. How would you use it?

4. How would you record it?

5. How would you check on the objectivity and fairness of your records?

6. Who has a right of access to your records?

Extension

Asking such basic questions could provide a check on the keeping of records. Any information which is not demonstrably useful to teaching, manageable, consistent with school policy and ethically sound should be reviewed.
