To investigate student perceptions of the quality of their courses

Aim

To investigate student perceptions of the quality of their courses.

Reflection

Towards the end of a course or module, ask students to reflect on what has affected the quality of their learning on that particular module.

First, ask them to individually respond to the following questions:

  1. What has helped them to learn on this module?
  2. What has hindered their learning on their module?
  3. How might the module be improved.

Ask them to discuss these responses in pairs.

Then ask them to discuss them as a whole group. Focus on developing  short lists of what was positive about the module and what might be improved.

Use these lists to inform your planning when you next teach the module.
