To monitor an individual child to estimate active learning time and gain a sense of how they experience a typical day

Aim

To monitor an individual child to estimate active learning time and gain a sense of how they experience a typical day.

Evidence and reflection

Observe a child on multiple occasions at different times. Judge the times at which, the child is:

  • actively engaged in an activity
  • disengaged or waiting
  • interacting with their peers
  • interacting with an adult

Extension

Are there any changes in the planning for the day which could help to maximize active learning time? Did you note anything interesting about the times the child was engaged with their peers, an adult, or playing alone?
