To consider the quality of activities in schemes of work.
Work with a colleague to compare the activities presented in a selection of schemes of work, either for your own class or for a specific age range. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the layouts used? Are the anticipated activities incremental in terms of pupil learning? What is the balance of types of activity? Are activities likely to enthuse and motivate pupils? Are outcomes clearly articulated? Is success in key learning points described?
Which activities would you replace, what with, and why?
