To identify aspects of pedagogy in our teaching.
Make a short video or audio recording of you teaching your class in a whole-class session. Reflect on the key features of the way you interact with the class. For example, to what extent did you use the IRF pattern? To what extent did you encourage longer contributions from children? What might you change in your teacher–pupil interaction? Select a short example to discuss with the children in your class to see what they understand about the nature of aspects such as turn-taking; listening; putting forward points of view; etc.
Work with a colleague to share short recordings of your teaching and/or observe each other teaching. Discuss you different ways of interacting with pupils.
