To reflect upon the impact practitioners have on children’s lives
To reflect upon the impact practitioners have on children’s behaviours.
Evidence and reflection
It might be appropriate at this point to reflect on the practitioners you experienced as a child. Though you may have to consider practitioners you experienced when you were older than the children you work with now, this is still potentially a very helpful exercise.
Think about a practitioner that you liked at school. Why did you like that person? What characteristics did they demonstrate? Record your thoughts.
Now think about a practitioner that you did not like. Why did you not like that person? What characteristics did they demonstrate? Record your thoughts.
If possible, share your thoughts with another student or colleague and note the similarities and differences.
What does this tell you about the characteristics you favour? How does this align with how you convey yourself within the setting? Can you recall how these different practitioners impacted upon your behaviours?
