To explore your institution’s policies and provisions for students identified as having special or additional needs, and to reflect on their implications for your practices.
(a) Identify those in your institution who have particular responsibilities for supporting students identified as having special or additional needs.
(b) Make brief notes about their support role and consider how they might support your teaching practice.
Talk to one of these colleagues about their role and institutional policies and provision. If there is an individual student, or group of students, about whom you are particularly concerned, if might be especially helpful to discuss ideas about teaching practices with them in mind. For example, what changes could you make to your teaching to support their inclusion in activities?
