To consider the extent to which you listen attentively to the children in your setting
To consider the extent to which you listen attentively to the children in your setting.
Evidence and Reflection
Either audio record your general interactions with children over a couple of sessions and/or ask a colleague to monitor your interactions. Consider, the extent to which all children are listened to, the extent to which you respond to their questions fully and, whether there are times when children are not listened to as other priorities ‘get in the way’.
Review if there are ways in which you could increase the attention you give to children as they ask questions.
Work with a colleague to plan how you could use children’s questions to develop their thinking.
