To support critical engagement with policy documents.
Evidence and reflection
Consider any of the current policy documents you are working to – they may be standards or frameworks of practice – and ask yourself:
What is the aim behind this document?
What values and underlying assumptions does it portray?
What effects will it have for our individual professional roles and then for the children and families with whom we work?
This, of course, is an important element of reflective and evidence‑informed practice.
